Long Finance aims to 'improve society's understanding and use of finance over the long-term'. The Eternal Coin is a Long Finance thought experiment that speculates on whether a coin that never loses value could exist and, if such a coin could exist, how might it be constructed. In a recent publication for Long Finance, 'In Search Of The Eternal Coin: A Long Finance View Of History', Dr Malcolm Cooper explored the background to the thought experiment and society's values over the long-term, constructing five different 'coins'. At this symposium Malcolm will highlight elements of his paper before a more general discussion, followed by a reception.
