Diabetes is an increasingly common disease causing raised blood sugar with serious long-term consequences. Type 1 diabetes was almost always fatal until the discovery of insulin, and causes serious medical consequences. Type 2 diabetes, where the body does not fully respond to insulin is often associated with obesity. 

This lecture will consider the treatment, prevention and recent advances in the science of diabetes.
