Overview
Ours is frequently characterised as a secular era, an era of unbelief. However, the paradox of our tiume is its hectic religiosity, witness the existence of innumerable belief systems. Over-belief is often a sign of unacknowledged doubt, probably because it is mistakenly believed that doubt is the opposite of faith. In fact, doubt is really a necessary pre-requisite to, and accompaniment of, faith. The opposite of faith is certainty. Living with faith is living with doubt.
This is a part of the lecture series, Living Theology.
