This event marks the 350th anniversary of the publication of John Graunt’s London Bills of Mortality in 1662.

Part One: Mortality in Historical London

Speakers open the symposium with an historical approach, examining mortality patterns in London in Graunt’s era, as well as assessing the contribution of the Bills of Mortality to the development of demography as a discipline.
