Chinese Art 1911-1976: A Connected History

Professor Clunas, Oxford University, will present Chinese Art 1911-1976: A Connected History demonstrating how Chinese artists responded to the decades between the fall of the empire in 1911, and the death of Mao Zedong in 1976.

The series will examine key works of art as a starting point for a discussion of the issues faced by Chinese visual art in an age of war, revolution and dislocation. The lectures will be richly illustrated with visual examples.
