There is a world of difference between what writers say they do and what academics say writers do. If we think more carefully about what some writers are saying about their practice at the moment, we may be able to open up areas of interaction, communication and value that we have not previously noticed.
So many people write creatively, yet so much of what they write does not get counted as ‘literature’. Does that matter?
