Dr Brian Black

Dr Black is a Professor at the Politics, Philosophy and Economics Department at the University of Lancaster.

He received his MA and PhD in the Study of Religions from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He teaches courses on Hinduism and Buddhism, as well as theory and methods in Religious Studies. He is author of the book The Character of the Self in Ancient India: Priests, Kings, and Women in the Early Upanishads, and co-editor of the book Gender and Narrative in the Mahabharata (with Simon Brodbeck).
