Tim Severin

Tim Severin was a British explorer, historian and writer, noted for his work in retracing the legendary journeys of historical figures. He undertook many voyages, which included sailing a leather boat across the Atlantic in the wake of Saint Brendan and steering the replica of a Bronze Age galley to seek the landfalls of Jason and Ulysses. Severin was awarded the Founder's Medal of the Royal Geographical Society and the Livingstone Medal of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. He received the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award for his 1982 book The Sindbad Voyage.
