Our new Professor of Astronomy introduces his new lecture series, 'The Biggest Questions in the Universe'. Whether it's exposing the latest research into Dark Matter or examining the 'galactic archaeology' that is trying to unpick the earliest microseconds of the Universe, Professor Joseph Silk's lecture series will certainly give the audience an idea of the grandeur of the Universe. As well as examining the past and the possible future, Professor Silk discusses the possibility that there might be life on other planets and the efforts to find it.
Professor Joseph Silk joins Gresham College as the latest Professor of Astronomy. He will be the 37th Gresham Professor of Astronomy, a post that stretches back to 1597 and includes visionaries like Sir Christopher Wren, Lord Rees, Colin Pillinger and Frank Close. Previous Gresham Professors have served as Astronomer Royal, landed on comets, and pioneered the work at CERN; Professor Silk is in fine company.
