Changing Minds

Professor Adshead will explore how psychological therapies can change minds, and the ethical issues that emerge as therapies are developed and offered. Psychological therapies are widely available and are a major technological intervention in mental health services. They are popular with service users and they are recommended as effective treatments within the NHS.
Over the course of three lectures, I will explore how psychological therapies can change minds; and the ethical, legal and political dilemmas that emerge as therapies are developed and offered. I will discuss these issues from the point of view of neuroscience, mental health and drivers of social change.
