If you are able to make a donation to support Gresham College, you can do so in the following ways:
- Make a one off donation or regular gift*;
- Send a cheque or charity voucher;
We accept cheques and charity vouchers. Please make sure they are made payable to ‘Gresham College’ and send directly to: Gresham College, Barnard’s Inn Hall, Holborn, London, EC1N 2HH. Please also include your contact details so we can confirm safe receipt. - Remember Gresham College in your will;
Friends of Gresham
Our supporters who give £10 per month or more become a 'Friend of Gresham'. The Friends of Gresham help us to advance our work of making world-class knowledge freely accessible and nurture a love for learning amongst audiences in the UK and abroad: As a thank you for your generosity, you will receive special benefits, including a small gift in the post, early registration access to our annual Sir Thomas Gresham Lecture, and a 15% discount to hire Barnard's Inn Hall
Tax efficient giving
If you are based in the United Kingdom or United States, you may be eligible to claim back tax on your donation. See below for further information.
By declaring your eligibility for gift aid, you increase the value of your donation by 25%. You can do so by completing our declaration form and emailing it to us at enquiries@gresham.ac.uk. You are eligible for gift aid if you pay enough UK income tax or capital gains tax to cover the amount to be reclaimed on all your charitable donations in the appropriate tax year.
If you pay the higher rate of income tax, then you can also claim back the difference between the higher rate of tax (40%) and the basic rate of tax (20%) on the gross value of your donation. If you earn over £150,000 per year, you can claim the difference between the additional rate of tax (45%) and the basic rate of tax (20%) on the gross value of your donation.
Donors who are taxpayers in the United States can qualify for an income tax deduction on donations made to Gresham College.
Gresham College is an approved institution recognised by the British Schools and Universities Foundation (BSUF), a US-based education foundation with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Donors can donate to Gresham College via BSUF online or by downloading a ‘Donor Transmittal Form’.
This means that those based in the United States are able to benefit from the same tax deductions on their charitable gifts as they would if they gave to a US-based charity.
How to make a donation via the BSUF:
- Donate online via BSUF with a credit card or wire transfer. Make sure to note ‘Gresham College’ as your approved institution.
- Send a check, made payable to ‘British Schools and Universities Foundation, Inc’ along with a completed ‘Donor Transmittal Form’ to:

BSUF will provide you with a receipt which you can use for your tax return.
Every time you make a donation through the BSUF, they will send an email message notifying us of this donation (including the amount) so we can thank you for your generosity.
Please note: giver preferences are respected by the BSUF, but all grants are made at its sole discretion, as required by the IRS.
