AI and the Second Fight for Free Culture
Today, copyright faces a new technological shock: AI. As with the Internet, the cost of producing and sharing ideas has fallen sharply, and copyright holders are again trying to protect old rights and secure new ones.
But AI raises deeper questions: for example, should AI-generated works receive protection, should AI be allowed to learn as freely as humans do, does copyright matter in a world of creative abundance? This lecture explores this new fight – one that may prove fatal for the copyright regime.
