Professor Mina Swaminathan

Mina Swaminathan was an Indian educationist in the field of pre-school education. While a teacher at St. Thomas's School in New Delhi, she developed methods using drama in education and language learning, both inside and outside the classroom. She chaired the committee that recommended what became the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and was one of the founders of the Mobile Creches, as well as a former chair of the Delhi Social Welfare Board, a founding member of the Centre for Women’s Development Studies and an international consultant with UNESCO and UNICEF on Early Childhood Care and Education.
