Professor Frances Spalding CBE

Frances Spalding is an art historian, critic and biographer, and Professor of Art History at Newcastle University. She has written mostly on twentieth-century British art and her books include a centenary history of the Tate and several biographies, including one on the poet Stevie Smith. Her most recent book, Prunella Clough: Regions unmapped, will be published March 2012 by Lund Humphries. She is currently writing about contingency.
