Dr Louise Pryor

As Director of the Board for Actuarial Standards (BAS) Louise Pryor led the development of the first set of technical standards for actuarial work to be developed by a fully independent standard setting body anywhere in the world. The BAS is an operating body of the Financial Reporting Council, which is also responsible for the oversight of the accounting, auditing and actuarial professions and for setting accounting and auditing standards.

Dr Pryor has extensive experience in financial modelling and risk management, as well as in software development and its management. She has worked as a consulting actuary, software development manager, university lecturer and software risk consultant. She has an MA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, a PhD in Computer Science from Northwestern University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Associate Fellow of Newnham College, Cambridge. Dr Pryor is the author of many academic papers, and has taught courses on risk management, programming, software engineering and expert systems in academia and for business.
