Professor Zoë Waxman

Oxford's Professor of Holocaust History, Zoë is a senior research fellow of the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies. Her books include Writing the Holocaust: identity, testimony, and representation (Oxford University Press, 2006) and Women and the Holocaust: a feminist history (Oxford University Press, 2017). She has also published numerous essays on gender, trauma, memory, and sexual violence. 

Part of the academic advisory board for the Holocaust Galleries at the Imperial War Museum and the United Kingdom’s Holocaust Memorial Foundation, she is a former trustee of the Wiener Holocaust Library and now chairs the Library’s Academic Advisory Board as well as the Fraenkel Prize jury. Zoë's current project is an exploration of motherhood and the Holocaust. She has a deep interest in working with museums and material culture, as well as reaching wider audiences and engaging with communities outside the academy.
