World War I for Schools

Stylised blue-green photos of a monk, a pixellated dog, a close-up spore, a person on a hill, a toy robot and a banana wrapped in chains

The impact of World War I was felt throughout the twentieth century and beyond. Empires and monarchies fell, new political structures emerged, economic and political frameworks were altered, with the United States becoming a dominant world power, and the rise of both Soviet communism and Hilter following in the wake of the Great War.  This playlist ranges widely over the area, covering topics including the war’s origins, the politics of the countries involved, the evolving military warfare, health and medicine, and the long shadow of its impact on international politics.
