England's Reformations and their Legacies

There was no such thing as ‘the English Reformation’: you cannot reduce a century of chaotic, exhilarating and horrifying upheaval to a single narrative.

In this series, instead of telling ‘the story’ of ‘the Reformation’, Professor Ryrie tells six overlapping, competing stories of the different kinds of Reformation Tudor England enjoyed and endured. None of these stories is the whole truth, but together they give us a flavour of what it meant to living through this revolutionary age, while also tracing the legacies each of those stories have left to the present.
