How Versatile are Therapeutic Antibodies?

Sometimes our bodies turn on us. In cancer, regulation of cell replication is lost and our cells divide uncontrolled, forming tumours. In auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, our immune system attacks our own tissues. But our bodies also hold an answer.

A versatile set of molecules – antibodies - are used by our immune systems to recognise and destroy pathogens. How can we develop novel antibodies to target disease? With annual sales already over $250 billion, what else will therapeutic antibodies achieve?
