Gen Z Instagram club attends Gresham College lecture

The Anti-Brainrot Club, organised by Ali Soufan, attended the Sir Thomas Gresham lecture on Tuesday, 23 June.

Last Tuesday, Gresham College hosted its annual Sir Thomas Gresham lecture at Conway Hall. Renowned physicist, author and broadcaster Professor Jim Al-Khalili delivered his lecture 'On The Nature of Time According to Modern Physics', an exploration of some of the questions posed by physicists as they seek to understand the nature of the universe.

The Anti-Brainrot Club is a creative and intellectual community for those "who want to get off their phones, meet like-minded people, and build interesting lives." 

It is a project organised by Ali Soufan, a content creator who guides his followers on how to build more social and intellectual lives offline, shifting away from reliance on social media and the internet for information and community. He can be found on Instagram and TikTok.

The club and I had a great time at a Gresham College lecture! Jim Al-Khalili was an incredible speaker, able to discuss complex ideas in physics in a way that was really funny and engaging. We enjoyed the opportunity to build community offline, doing something together that’s intellectual and also completely free. Thanks very much for having us!
