Volunteers' Week is back (Monday 1 June - Sunday 7 June) and Gresham College is proud to be taking part, thanking all those who volunteer across the country.

At Gresham College, we're fortunate to benefit from the help of a growing number of volunteers who add to every part of the College's work.

Whether helping to meet and greet the thousands of people who attend our lectures each year or working behind the scenes to help manage mailing lists, databases or promoting our work, there's a wide range of roles where people can make a real difference.

In the first year of our new volunteering project, supporters contributed 562 hours of hands‑on support, strengthening our community and helping us reach more people than ever before.

Volunteers' Week is a celebration not just of the contribution so many individuals make but also a time to highlight the benefits that volunteering brings to the volunteers themselves.

Our volunteering roles take many forms - from one-off, time-limited projects to more regular contributions in the office - and provide the chance to stretch your skills and to learn new ones.

Volunteers like Penelope Tay bring their experience and skills to Gresham College's day-to-day activities but gain something in return. Penelope said: "I found out about volunteering while exploring the Gresham College website for more lectures to attend.

"It's such a happy atmosphere and the work is so different to what I've done before. I really like volunteering here."

Celia Blakeway-Phillips, Gresham College's Head of Fundraising and Engagement, said: "As a small charity, volunteering makes a massive difference to us. We are grateful for the wonderful people who have supported Gresham College in this way. We have been able to move a lot of projects forward thanks to their help, knowledge, and efforts.

"We welcome all ages and backgrounds and have a range of volunteering opportunities available. Perhaps you could consider supporting our work and ensuring that Sir Thomas Gresham's vision for free education for all continues to flourish. Please get in touch with me for a no-obligation discussion about roles and vacancies."
