Geoffrey Matthews

Geoffrey Matthews is Secretary and Chief Executive of the Chelsea Arts Club. He is a Director of National Theatre Enterprises Limited, a Trustee of the South Square Trust arts education charity and a Governor of St Paul's Girls' School. He is a Member of the Mercers’ Company Court of Assistants and serves on the Company’s Heritage and Arts Committee. 

After reading Classics at Cambridge, Geoffrey completed a short service commission in the Irish Guards; he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey and as a Director of SRU Limited; was Managing Director of the National Gallery’s retail and publishing company; and was Project Private Secretary for TRH Princes William and Harry (producing ‘Concert for Diana’). He was Creative Director both of an FCO global public diplomacy campaign to promote the UK and, in 2012, of the National Theatre’s Inside Out Festival. 

Geoffrey has served on a number of non-executive boards in the past, including those of the London Library, St Charles’s Sixth Form College, the 999 Club drop-in centres, The Royal Society of Sculptors, Battersea Arts Centre, Sentebale and Bristol Old Vic Trading Limited.
