The City of London has been transformed over the last few years by new technologies, shifting markets, organisations, innovations and new ideas. The knowledge, skills and competences of the leaders and managers are being tested by these changes. This lecture gives the wider context in which the new learning will be needed to enable the City to adapt to these new conditions. The lecture also sets the scene for these talks and beyond, ranging from the impact of globalisation to he potential for a common foundation for education and training in the City.
