Sir Thomas Gresham, founder of the Royal Exchange, left his estate jointly to the City of London Corporation and the Mercers' Company, which continue to support the College through the Joint Gresham Committee under the presidency of the Lord Mayor of London.
The Gresham College Council manages strategy, business planning and administration of the charity. The Academic Board oversees the lecture programme of the College, including academic appointments
