Visiting Professor Dominic Broomfield-McHugh recently took a trip to our historic musical collection at the Guildhall.

Set up by Gresham Professor of Music, Edward Taylor, in 1838, and enhanced by contributions from the public, the collection includes rare and important musical manuscripts, including of works by Purcell, Handel, Mozart, and Italian 17th and 18th century vocalisations.

There are also lecture notes by other Gresham Professors of Music.

Professor Broomfield-McHugh was particularly interested to see works related to A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, the focus of his first lecture this academic year.

A treasure trove and accessible by the general public upon request!
