In this lecture we will review what is commonly called e-learning, including MOOCs, SPOOCs, flipping and DIYU, and see if there are any themes which emerge from the buzzword bingo that is digital learning.
Our gut is permanently full of large numbers of bacteria but serious infections rarely occur due to its extraordinary immune system. Public health has reduced but not eliminated transmission of these potentially dangerous infections.
Why has it taken so long to crack the speech processing puzzle? Why do we find speech processing so effortless and machines find it so daunting? And what progress can we expect in the next few years?
Control measures including vaccination have reduced the risk of some, but not all, of these very serious infections. This lecture will cover how infections get into the brain, their effect and how we can prevent and treat them.
