Alexandra Vaduva

Romanian-born pianist, Alexandra Vaduva started playing the piano at the age of four with the teacher Doina Olteteanu. Since then she has won numerous national and international piano competitions, such as First Prize at the "Vienna International Piano Competition" (2011), Third Prize at the "Beethoven Piano Competition" (London, 2011), Second Prize at the "Sterndale Bennett Piano Competition" (London, 2011), Fourth Prize at the "Else Cross Modern Piano Competition" (London, 2010), First prizes at the "Pro Piano" and "Carl Filtsch" International Piano Competitions (Romania, 2008) and many others.

Her competitional activity is harmoniously blended with a busy concert schedule. Alexandra has recently performed Stravinsky’s Piano Concerto with the Royal Academy of Music Wind Orchestra conducted by Keith Bragg and she will focus once more her attention on the Russian composer during the orchestral performance of the „Petrushka“ ballet suite conducted by Thierry Fischer.

Alexandra has performed in masterclasses given by famous pianists and teachers such as Imogen Cooper, Stephen Hough, Pascal Devoyon, John O’Conor, Evgheny Sudbin, Joanna MacGregor, Galina Eguiazarova, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Petras Geniusas, Jerome Rose.

Alexandra’s performances have taken her to wonderful venues such as the Lobkowitz Palace (Vienna), Wigmore Hall, Duke’s Hall, Steinway Hall, Yamaha Centre (Bond Street), The Castle (Wellingborough), St. James‘ Church (Piccadilly), St. Pancras Church (Euston), Regent’s Hall, Charlton House, the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Her next engagements include the performance of Prokofiev’s First Piano Concerto with the Bedford Sinfonia, UK and many solo and chamber music recitals throughout the UK.

Alexandra is grateful to the SOLTI Foundation and the Royal Academy of Music for their continuous support. She is currently in her final undergraduate year studying with Diana Ketler at the aforementioned institution.
