Andy Field
Andy Field is an artist, writer and curator.
With his partner Beckie Darlington, he works with young people on creative projects that initiate new and different kinds of conversations and collaborations between children and adults. Their work has been presented across the UK and internationally by partners including Manchester International Festival, The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art Kanazawa, Staatstheater Mainz, The Museum of London and the European Capital of Culture in Oulu.
And is also the co-director of the artist collective Forest Fringe and the author of Encounterism: The Neglected Joy of Being in Person (Norton, 2023) and the co-author with Maddy Costa of Performance in an Age of Precarity (Methuen Drama, 2021). He has written for publications including the Washington Post, The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Scotsman. In 2012 he completed a PhD at the University of Exeter exploring the use of public space in the New York avant-garde performance movements of 1960s and 70s.
